Lines and Hooks
(work-in-progress)
Collaboration with Li Runjian
mixed-media installation and performance
I'm tired of the hierarchy between choreographers and composers. What connects us is the action.
In this project, we weave threads, mapping out connections within space while also exploring the tensions between disciplines through action—movement, breath, heartbeat. Control vs. letting go, certainty vs. uncertainty.
This is an exploration, not the end.
Lines and Hooks is a three-hour durational performance created in collaboration with choreographer Li Runjian, exploring the intricate interplay between bodies, objects, and sound. Situated at the intersection of live art and movement, the work draws inspiration from the fishing practices observed in Zuotan Village (Shunde, China), using fishing as a poetic metaphor for connection, entanglement, and response.
