Suonare la casa
site-specific performance, 2023
Cesenatico, Italy
The Italian word ‘suonare’ means to ‘ring’, to ‘play’, to ‘evoke sound’. This word is hard to translate into English and to me it holds an abstract beauty.
Fascinated by concepts of inside, outside, and the liminal space in between, I am led to an intriguing location—an abandoned structure in Parco di Levante, confined by metal bars and encased in concrete, rendering it inaccessible to normal means.
However, a slender opening in the structure's wall offers a unique opportunity—an aperture through which I can introduce a microphone. This microphone becomes my portal, channeling my curiosity into the enigmatic depths of this hidden space.
Within these obscured confines, I seek to discern the latent energy, the vibrations concealed beneath the shroud of darkness and layers of dust. Through sound, I aim to unravel the mysteries that reside within, transcending the boundaries of physical barriers to reveal the unseen, and perhaps, the forgotten.

This piece is part of ELEMENTI 2023:
During the summer of 2023, the fourth edition of ELEMENTI will be staged, the contemporary music festival created in Cervia by the MAGMA aps and MU aps associations during the 2020 lockdown with the aim of rediscovering an immersive performative dimension within natural landscapes with the high emotional power that characterizes the Romagna area.
After the success of the first two editions (which made the public discover the pier, the pine forest and the salt pan of Cervia and the Cannuzzo river park) the 2022 event - third edition - has expanded its scope by proposing a calendar of ten events that crossed the Romagna territory. The territorial expansion has strengthened the link between sound, art and nature, consolidating the project as an itinerant cultural event, strongly identifying and recurring during the summer period. Between Faenza, Cervia, Cesenatico and six other municipalities of Lower Romagna (Lugo, Fusignano, Cotignola, Bagnacavallo, Bagnara di Romagna, Massa Lombarda), the selected symbolic places were transformed into a fascinating stage in which the proposed shows recreated a almost surreal.
The fourth edition of ELEMENTI is realised with the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna Region and in collaboration with the Municipality of Cervia and the Cervia Saltpan Park, the Union of Municipalities of Lower Romagna (Alfonsine, Bagnacavallo, Bagnara di Romagna, Conselice, Cotignola, Fusignano, Lugo, Massa Lombarda and Sant'Agata sul Santerno), the Union of Romagna Faentina, the Municipality of Cesenatico and the Municipality of Faenza.
